Ms. Guzic is the Interim Assistant Director for Telehealth for CERMUSA at Saint Francis University. As the Assistant Director for Telehealth, her primary responsibilities include directing and coordinating telemedicine, telehealth, and telerehabilitation research studies and programs. She also designs standard process models to assist partners in identifying specific needs for research protocols; developing test plans; analysis of study data; and constructing online telemedicine courses and seminars.

She has collaborated with healthcare providers and facilities on projects involving Rural Healthcare and Education and has worked with the University of Pittsburgh’s Peter M. Winter Institute for Simulation, Education and Research in providing medical simulation education at a distance. She has been instrumental in establishing a pilot program to remotely train healthcare providers over live interactive video teleconferencing in percussion techniques that can be used in the treatment of individuals with autism or other neurological disorders.

Ms. Guzic is the principle liaison to the Conemaugh School of EMS distance education program. She also serves on the advisory committee to the Pennsylvania Association of Community Health Centers, Inc., and is a member of the American Telemedicine Association, The Society of Clinical Research Associates, and the Society for Simulation in Healthcare, the Pennsylvania Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) committee, and The Society of Music Therapists. Ms. Guzic has over 25 years of experience in various aspects of nursing, social work, health care management, disease management, and healthcare administration. She obtained her degree in nursing from Mount Aloysius College and her Bachelor of Social Work, Master of Arts in Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations, and her Master of Health Science from Saint Francis University.

Lori Massaro is currently employed by the UPMC Stroke Institute.  Her role includes both the clinical supervisor position and acute care nurse practitioner.  In the supervisory role, she is responsible for the daily operations of the Stroke team, including telemedicine, research, clinical care, outreach, TJC  stroke center certification, and program development.  She also continues in the role of CRNP caring for patients in the outpatient setting.   Ms. Massaro has lectured both locally and nationally on Acute Stroke care, Imaging in Acute stroke, Nursing care priorities for the stroke patient, CT scan interpretation, and a variety of neurological nursing topics.  She has served as the Course Director for the Annual Nursing Symposium Acute Stroke Management since 2005, and on the planning committee for the Annual Stroke Update course developed by the UPMC Stroke Institute.  Ms. Massaro also holds an Adjunct Faculty position at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing in the Acute Tertiary Department.  Her responsibilities include lectures on neuro related topics as well as serving as a preceptor to nurse practitioner and graduate students.

Began healthcare career as a Registered Nurse on Cardiac Telemetry unit at Memorial Medical Center. Obtained BSN and MSN and shifted focus to education of new RNs on cardiovascular disease, diagnosis, and treatment in preparation for positions in ICU/CCU and Telemetry. Transitioned to Windber Medical Center in 1999 to become Compliance Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, and Executive Director of the Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center. Returned to Conemaugh Health System in 2008 to become Compliance and Privacy Officer, Ethics Committee and Ethics Consult Team Leader. This position involves ensuring that the Health System is, and remains in, adherence to compliance and privacy regulations and laws; managing the operations of the CHS Compliance, Privacy, and Ethics Program, including investigating reported complaints; auditing and monitoring patient information systems; risk assessments; ethics consults; and developing and enforcing policies and procedures as they relate to Compliance, Privacy and Ethics.

Dr. Trofino is currently the Nursing Department Chair at Saint Francis University. She earned her Doctorate degree(DNP) from Carlow University , Pittsburgh, PA; a master’s degree (MNEd) from the University of Pittsburgh, with an emphasis on nursing education; and a BSN from the University of Pittsburgh. She has over 25 years of experience in nursing education, including hospital staff development and college teaching.

Dr. Trofino published a book on Burn Nursing. She has published numerous chapters in medical-surgical textbooks, and has presented at numerous nursing programs/conferences.

As educator, speaker, author, medical office practice manager, former hospital personnel-marketing director, and parent of six children, Susan M. Wieczorek’s lived experience within the world of communication and health provides a wealth of applied knowledge for improving patient/provider relationships within the medical setting.  Her recent role as Executive Director of Cambria-Somerset Education of Health Professionals, Inc. has brought a unique perspective to the practical application of theory and research within health education.  As a loyal University of Pittsburgh alumnus, Susan received a BA in Education (1980) and MA in Communication (1984).  Currently she is completing her PhD in medical communication and technology with her dissertation, “A Descriptive Analysis of Physician/Patient Electronic Communication,” which provides a content analysis of over 60,000 interactions between internal medicine physicians and patients within secured portals at UPMC Montefiore Hospital. During her over 20 years of teaching at Pitt-Johnstown, she has spoken at numerous international and national conventions, authored several chapters and articles on health communication,  acted as  speaker/advisor for the Royal College of Physicians Working Group in London, provided medical communication workshops at West Virginia Medical School, taught medical interviewing at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, and developed the medical communication course for nurses and health communication professionals at Pitt-Johnstown.
